God’s Secret Agents

Jessica Giunta | Detroit Hope Center March 15, 2026

In a world where the gospel cannot always be shared openly, God is still at work. He is raising up families—moms, dads, and even children—who carry the light of Jesus into places where His name is restricted. These missionary families serve in what we call Access Challenged Nations (ACNs). Their work is sensitive, their identities must be protected, and their children often live in environments very different from our own.

God’s Secret Agents is a month-long discipleship experience designed to help children understand global missions, learn to pray with purpose, and develop a heart for missionary kids who live in these challenging areas. Through hands-on activities, Scripture, and family engagement, kids discover that they too can be part of God’s mission—right now, right where they are.

Why This Matters

Oneness Pentecostal missions have always been rooted in the Great Commission—a command, not a suggestion—spoken by Jesus Himself:

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15

For generations, Apostolic believers have obeyed this call with boldness, sacrifice, and unwavering faith. But in today’s world, “going” doesn’t always look like boarding a plane, preaching on a street corner, or planting a church in the open. In many nations, the gospel is restricted, Christian gatherings are monitored, and public evangelism is illegal.

These are the places we call Access Challenged Nations (ACNs).

In these regions, missionaries must walk carefully.

  • Their names cannot be shared publicly.
  • Their children cannot post photos online.
  • Their ministries must remain discreet.

Yet even in secrecy, God is not limited.

  • He sees every missionary family.
  • He knows every child by name.
  • He hears every whispered prayer.

And He invites our children—right here at home—to join Him in His mission.

This program helps kids understand that missions is not just for adults, pastors, or people who travel overseas. Missions is for every believer, including children. When kids learn to pray for missionary families, they begin to see the world the way Jesus sees it: full of people He loves, nations He longs to reach, and children He desires to protect and empower.

Through God’s Secret Agents lesson series, children discover three life-shaping truths:

God’s mission is global.

Jesus is the one true God, and His name is to be lifted up in every nation. From the very beginning, God’s heart has always reached beyond borders. He told Abraham that “in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Genesis 12:3), pointing to a global promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Scripture repeatedly shows that God’s plan is not limited to one people, one culture, or one language.

Jesus declared, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations” (Matthew 28:19), making it clear that His Word is meant to be taught everywhere. Psalm 67:2 echoes this truth: “That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.” And Psalm 96:3 commands us to “declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.”

Kids learn that the gospel is bigger than their city, their school, or their routine—it is a worldwide mission that includes them. When they pray for missionary kids, they join God’s global story, helping His light shine in places they may never visit but can still reach through prayer.

Prayer is powerful.

The Bible teaches that Jesus is a Spirit—He is everywhere, He knows everything, and He is all powerful. When children pray, they are talking to the God who can reach into any country, any home, any heart. Their prayers matter, and Scripture makes that unmistakably clear.

James 5:16 tells us plainly that “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Prayer is not symbolic or passive—it accomplishes something. God responds when His people pray with faith.

Jesus Himself taught that we should pray expecting results. In Mark 11:24 He said, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” Prayer is meant to be bold, believing, and confident in God’s ability to act.

Paul urged the church to pray “for all men” (1 Timothy 2:1), reminding us that intercession is part of our calling. When children pray for missionary kids, they are stepping into that same biblical pattern—standing in the gap for others and inviting God to move.

Kids learn that prayer is not small, quiet, or powerless. It is world shaking. It is God activating. It is Spirit empowered. And when they pray, heaven listens and nations are touched.

Kids can make a difference.

Children are not too young to obey the Word, to pray daily, to hear God’s voice, or to be used by the Holy Ghost. Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly shows that He delights in using the small, the young, and the unlikely to accomplish His purpose.

Jesus welcomed children, saying, “Suffer the little children to come unto me… for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14). He did not push them aside—He pulled them close and affirmed their place in His mission.

God often uses what seems small to accomplish something great. When David defeated Goliath, he declared, “The battle is the Lord’s” (1 Samuel 17:47). A young boy with a sling became God’s instrument of victory. When the little boy offered his lunch to Jesus, Scripture says Jesus took the small offering, blessed it, and multiplied it until thousands were fed (John 6:9–11). These stories prove that nothing is too small for God to use in extraordinary ways.

Paul told Timothy, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers” (1 Timothy 4:12). This is not just instruction—it is empowerment. God calls young believers to lead, to pray, to speak, and to shine.

When children pray for missionary kids, they step into their own calling as young disciples who help carry the gospel to the world. Their prayers are not “practice prayers.” They are powerful, Spirit filled, heaven moving prayers that God hears and responds to.

This is why the program matters.

This is why we teach it.

This is why we invite children to join the mission.

Because even the smallest prayer from the smallest child can shake the largest nation when it is prayed in the name of Jesus. God takes what seems little and turns it into something eternal.

How the Program Works

Detroit Hope Center prepared a set of large, sealed “Secret Agent Envelopes”—one for each missionary family serving in an ACN. These envelopes contain carefully curated, child-safe information that helps kids learn and pray without compromising anyone’s identity.

Inside each envelope, you’ll find:

  • The country where the family serves
  • The missionary kids’ first names only
  • A simple map showing the region
  • What the kids enjoy doing for Jesus
  • Challenges they face in sharing the gospel
  • Fun cultural facts about the nation
  • A prayer guide with Scriptures and sample prayers

Each week, one child from Kids Church takes home a packet. A Parent/Guardian Prayer Sheet encourages families to pray together daily for the missionary kids they are “assigned” to support.

This creates a powerful rhythm of intercession, compassion, and global awareness.

4-Week Lesson Plan Outline

This four week lesson plan is designed to guide children on a meaningful journey into God’s heart for the world. Each week introduces kids to a new truth about missions, prayer, and the powerful role they can play in supporting missionary families—especially those serving in Access Challenged Nations. Through hands on activities, Scripture based teaching, and simple but impactful prayer practices, children learn that they are not too young to be part of God’s global mission.

These lessons help kids see beyond their everyday routines and understand that the gospel is reaching into places they may never visit, through families they may never meet, yet they can still support through prayer. As they learn about missionary kids, explore different nations, and discover how God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things, they begin to recognize that they, too, are called to shine the light of Jesus wherever they go.

This plan equips leaders to teach with confidence, families to pray with purpose, and children to step boldly into their identity as young disciples who can make a real difference in God’s kingdom.

WEEK 1 — God’s Secret Agents

Kids learn that missionary children are like undercover lights for Jesus.

Objective: Help children understand that missionary kids shine for Jesus in places where the gospel must be shared quietly and wisely.

Teaching Focus: Explain that in some countries, talking about Jesus openly can be dangerous. Missionary families must be careful—but they are still bold, faithful, and full of God’s Spirit. Just like secret agents, they carry out important missions that not everyone sees.

Activity: Kids create Secret Agent Badges with their first name and a code name like “Agent Light” or “Agent Hope.”

Talk about how God knows every detail of their lives, even when others cannot.

Bible Verse: Matthew 5:14 — “You are the light of the world.”

Expanded Discussion:

  • What does it mean to be a light in a dark place
  • How can kids shine for Jesus at school, home, or in their neighborhood
  • Why does God sometimes hide His people for their protection

WEEK 2 — Praying for the Nations

Kids discover that prayer travels farther than they ever could.

Objective: Teach children that prayer is not limited by distance, borders, or government restrictions.

Teaching Focus: Show a world map and highlight Access Challenged Nations. Explain that even though we cannot go there, our prayers can. God hears from anywhere, and He moves everywhere.

Activity: Kids place stickers or markers on each ACN. As a group, pray short, simple prayers over each location.

Bible Verse: James 5:16 — “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Expanded Discussion:

  • How prayer strengthens missionary kids
  • How God answers prayers in ways we may never see
  • How praying for others helps us grow spiritually

WEEK 3 — Hidden but Not Forgotten

Kids learn why privacy matters—and why prayer still counts.

Objective: Help children understand the importance of protecting missionary identities while still remembering them in prayer.

Teaching Focus: Explain that in ACNs, sharing names or photos can put families at risk. But God never forgets them. He keeps them “under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Activity: Kids can craft Secret Prayer Silhouettes by drawing a simple silhouette outline of a child’s head onto paper using a lamp/light. Inside the silhouette, kids can write or draw prayer requests for missionary kids in access-challenged nations, such as: “Help them feel safe,” “Give them friends,” “Give them courage.” They can then decorate around the silhouette symbols of God’s protection-shields, hearts, wings, or the words, “God sees you,” “God knows you,” “God protects you.”

Bible Verse: Psalm 91:1 — “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Expanded Discussion:

  • What does it mean to be “hidden in God”
  • Why God sometimes protects His people through secrecy
  • How encouragement strengthens the Body of Christ

WEEK 4 — Living for Jesus Everywhere

Kids are challenged to live boldly for Jesus in their own world.

Objective: Encourage children to see themselves as missionaries in their everyday lives.

Teaching Focus: Share stories from Scripture—Daniel, Esther, Paul, the early church—who lived boldly for God in difficult places. Connect these stories to missionary kids today.

Activity: Kids brainstorm ways they can share Jesus at school, in sports, with friends, or in their neighborhood. Create a “Mission Possible” wall with their ideas.

Bible Verse: Mark 16:15 — “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”

Expanded Discussion:

  • What does “your world” look like
  • How can kids show Jesus through kindness, courage, and obedience
  • How the Holy Ghost empowers us to be witnesses

Creative Additions for Each Packet

To make the experience memorable, meaningful, and spiritually engaging, each “Secret Agent Envelope” can include small, intentional items that help children connect with the missionary kids they are praying for. These additions turn the packet into more than information—they become tools for intercession, imagination, and discipleship.

  • Country flag stickers or stamps: These visual elements help children identify the nation they are praying for and spark curiosity about the culture, language, and people. Kids love collecting them, and they serve as a simple reminder that God’s love reaches every corner of the world.
  • A mini prayer journal for the week: This small booklet gives children a place to write or draw their prayers each day. It teaches them consistency, helps them reflect on what God is doing, and reinforces the idea that their prayers matter. Journaling also helps kids develop lifelong spiritual habits.
  • “Mission Possible” challenge cards: Each card includes a simple act of kindness or obedience kids can complete during the week—like praying for a friend, helping a sibling, or encouraging someone at school. These challenges connect the global mission to their everyday lives, showing them that being a light for Jesus starts right where they are.
  • A memory verse card to keep: Including a verse related to missions, prayer, or courage helps children hide God’s Word in their hearts. These cards can be collected throughout the month, displayed at home, or tucked into a Bible as a reminder of what they learned.

These small touches help children connect emotionally and spiritually with the missionary kids they are praying for. They transform the packet from a simple envelope into a hands-on discipleship experience—one that invites kids to pray, learn, imagine, and participate in God’s global mission in a way that feels personal and exciting.

Reflection & Group Sharing

At the end of the month, gather the children for a special celebration and reflection time. This moment helps them look back on what God has done in their hearts and through their prayers.

Encourage them to share:

  • What they learned
  • What they prayed for
  • What surprised them
  • How God spoke to them

This reinforces the truth that kids can be part of God’s global mission—not someday, but today.

To make this final gathering meaningful and unforgettable, consider adding one or more of these fun culminating activities:

  • Mission Celebration Stations: Set up simple stations around the room that represent the four weekly themes—light, prayer, protection, and bold living. Kids rotate through each station to complete a quick activity or answer a reflection prompt. This helps them revisit each lesson in a hands-on way.
  • Secret Agent Graduation: Give each child a “God’s Secret Agent” certificate or badge upgrade. Celebrate their faithfulness in praying for missionary kids and learning about God’s mission. This moment affirms their identity as young disciples who make a difference.
  • Mission Memory Wall: Create a wall or bulletin board where kids can post drawings, prayer journal pages, “Mission Possible” cards, or silhouettes from Week 3. This visual display helps them see how much they’ve learned and how God has used their prayers.
  • Pack-a-Prayer Bag: Let each child assemble a small “prayer kit” to take home—items like a memory verse card, a world map bookmark, or a blank prayer journal page. This encourages them to continue praying for the nations long after the program ends.
  • Kids’ Testimony Circle: Invite children to share one short testimony about how God used them during the month—maybe they completed a Mission Possible challenge, prayed for someone at school, or felt God speak to them during prayer time. This builds confidence and reinforces that God uses kids in powerful ways.
  • World Prayer Moment: End with a united prayer for the nations. Have kids stand in a circle, hold hands, or place their hands on the world map. Pray together for missionary families, children in Access Challenged Nations, and for God to use each child in their own world.

These culminating activities help children celebrate what they’ve learned, remember the impact of their prayers, and step forward with confidence as young participants in God’s global mission.

Parent Connection

Each week, a different child brings home a missionary packet, giving families a unique opportunity to participate together in God’s global mission. These packets are designed not only for children but also to spark meaningful conversations and prayer moments at home. Parents are encouraged to:

  • Pray daily with their child. Set aside a simple moment—at bedtime, during breakfast, or in the car—to pray for the missionary kids in the packet. These short, consistent prayers help children see that prayer is a natural and powerful part of everyday life.
  • Talk about missions and bold faith. Use the packet as a springboard to discuss what it means to follow Jesus in different cultures and circumstances. Parents can share stories of missionaries, testimonies from Scripture, or moments when they themselves had to be brave for their faith.
  • Discuss what it means to follow Jesus even when others don’t understand. Some missionary kids live in places where Christianity is not accepted or understood. Parents can help their children process what it means to stand for truth, show kindness, and live boldly for Jesus—whether at school, with friends, or in their own neighborhood.
  • Celebrate the child’s role as a “Secret Agent Intercessor.” Parents can affirm their child’s prayers, creativity, and compassion. Celebrate their involvement—whether through a sticker chart, a special note, or simply spoken encouragement. This helps children feel valued and empowered in their role.

These simple practices create a beautiful rhythm of family discipleship and global awareness. As parents and children pray together, talk together, and learn together, the home becomes a place where God’s heart for the nations is nurtured. Families begin to see that missions is not just something happening “out there”—it’s something they can participate in right now, together, as God works through their prayers to bless missionary kids around the world.

Final Encouragement

God is raising up a generation of children who understand prayer, missions, and the power of the Holy Ghost, and God’s Secret Agents is one of the ways He is shaping their hearts. Through these lessons, children discover that they are part of something far bigger than themselves—that their prayers carry weight, their faith has influence, and their obedience matters in the kingdom of God. They learn that God can use them anywhere: in their homes, in their schools, in their neighborhoods, and even in nations they may never visit.

When a child lifts their voice in prayer, heaven hears, and God moves. Even the smallest child can make a global impact when they pray in the name of Jesus. This program doesn’t just teach missions—it awakens young disciples to their calling, reminding them that God’s mission includes them, empowers them, and works through them in ways far greater than they can imagine.
